N.C. Foreclosure Prevention Fund™ Information

N.C. Foreclosure Prevention Fund

North Carolina Foreclosure Prevention Fund closing soon.

Hardest Hit Funds are limited. The last day for application submission to the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency (NCHFA) is July 31, 2019 at 5:00pm EST, so act quickly.

Gathering all documentation necessary to submit an application to NCHFA can take up to 60 days. Please note, starting an application is not the same as a submitted application to (NCHFA). There will be no exceptions for applications not submitted to the Agency after July 31, 2019.

Please contact Kimberly Dupree-White at Greenville Housing Authority at 252-329-4056 to assist you with starting an application and application submission to NCHFA. If you desire to apply directly online, the call center can also provide instructions on how you can apply and submit an application to NCHFA through an online portal.

The N.C. Foreclosure Prevention Fund™ helps North Carolina homeowners who are struggling to make their mortgage payments due to job loss or temporary financial hardship. For qualified homeowners, the Fund can provide an interest-free loan of up to $36,000 to pay your mortgage and other related expenses for up to 36 months while you search or retrain for new employment. The loan can also be used to bring your mortgage current. If you are currently employed but have a second mortgage that is unaffordable because of a prior job loss or reduced income, the Fund offers an interest-free loan of up to $30,000 to pay off your second mortgage.

We offer the Fund in partnership with the N.C. Housing Finance Agency using funds from the U.S. Treasury. The Fund provides assistance at no cost to you.
